FAQ

The questions worth asking.

Does brag.bot hold my money?

No. Never. Real-money bets settle on independent, regulated prediction markets that hold the funds and verify identity. Friendly bets get tracked as IOUs your group settles itself. We never hold a dollar of your stake.

Is this legal?

Real-money predictions ride on federally regulated markets that are legal and operating in the US, a different footing than a sportsbook. Social features like leaderboards, IOUs, and brackets for pride work broadly. The Is it legal page has the full picture.

Which states can place real-money bets?

Real money is US-only, needs you to be 18+ (21+ in some states), and depends on your state. The bot only offers real-money options where they are available to you. Everywhere else it is bragging rights.

What chats does it work in?

WhatsApp first, with Telegram and iMessage coming soon. It lives in the group chat you already use. Nobody downloads an app.

Does the bot read our chat?

Yes, so it can spot a bet and keep the receipts. It keeps what it needs, the bets, the standings, and quotes worth remembering. You can see, edit, and delete what it holds. It does not archive your conversation.

What happens to an IOU bet?

The bot tracks who owes whom and posts the result. You settle up the way you already do, by Venmo, by cash, or by buying the next round. Money never moves through us.

Do you make money when I lose?

No. We earn fees from the regulated markets and from premium group features. We have no side of your bet, so we have no reason to want you to lose or to keep playing.

What if there is a dispute?

Custom bets get resolved by the group organizer or by both parties agreeing, with a dispute window before anything goes final. Real-event bets settle off the actual result.
